ACTION CHESS

Industrial Design, 3D Printing

I grew up playing chess, so I'm partial to the more traditional set design. With thousands of different chess set designs out there, I chose to set these apart by making it more interactive to make playing more fun. Each piece has a mechanism to allow the "weapon" to pop out and attack another piece. I focused on the hiearchy of pieces as well, giving each piece a weapon that represents it. For example, the king is the most important piece which you need to protect, so the king is equiped with a shield. The pieces were modeled in AutoDesk Fusion 360 and I printed the pieces on my 3D printer (Prusa i3v) in PLA. Mutliple interations were needed to ensure that the mechanism within would work for every piece.
